Daily maintenance of fusion splicer

In the fusion state, the optical fiber advancement stops and the machine does not perform fusion operation.

The reason is that the V-groove is dirty and must be cleaned.


After closing the windproof cover, the optical fiber will not push forward.

Reason:

1. The bare optical fiber is placed too far from the electrode or beyond the electrode, please replay the optical fiber.

2. The objective lens has dust and the fusion splicer cannot clearly observe the optical fiber. Clean the objective lens with alcohol cotton swab.


The screen prompts "Section Difference".

The reason is that the section of the optical fiber is not good. Please cut the optical fiber again.


Fusion failure or large fusion loss.

Reason:

1. The fusion machine has insufficient discharge intensity, reconfirm the fusion mode, and carry out discharge correction on the fusion machine.
2. The electrode shall be cleaned or replaced due to aging and oxide on the electrode tip.

3. The optical fiber is not clean or the coating is not completely stripped.  Carefully clean the optical fiber and check the state of the fiber stripper.


Replace electrode

Fusion machine electrodes generally have a fusion life of 3,000. As the number of times the electrodes are used increases, the electrodes will suffer losses, such as blunt electrode tips, oxide deposition on the electrode surface, etc., and the optical fiber fusion loss will also increase.  Should be replaced in a timely manner. The electrode replacement method is as follows:

1. Turn off the power supply of the fusion machine, preferably unplug the fusion battery.

2. Remove the two screws on the electrode cap of the fusion splicer with an Allen wrench, and remove the electrode cap. The electrode and the electrode cap are connected with a buckle, and the electrode moves out with the electrode cap.
3. Take out the electrode from the electrode cap and install a new electrode into the electrode cap to ensure that the electrode is put into the buckle. Be careful not to let the new electrode tip touch other objects to avoid damaging the electrode tip.

4. Place the electrode cap on the electrode seat of the fusion machine, confirm that the electrode is in a horizontal state, and tighten the two hexagon socket head cap screws.

5. Replace the other electrode according to the above steps.

Use of Melting Machine Heat Furnace

1. Open the heat furnace cover, open the windproof cover, open the left and right large pressure plates, and take out the optical fiber.
2. Move the heat shrinkable tube so that the center of the heat shrinkable tube is just the center of the fusion point. The location is as follows:



4. Move the optical fiber with heat shrinkable sleeve to the heat furnace, and press down the right iron pin with the optical fiber to close the heat furnace cover.
5. Press the HEAT, the heat indicator will light up and the heat will begin. During the heat process, the state of the heat shrinkable tube can be seen through the transparent cover of the heat furnace, and the indicator light is off to indicate that the heat time is up and the heat is stopped.
6. Open the heat furnace cover and watch the state of the heat shrinkable tube. The complete discharge of air in the heat shrinkable tube indicates that the optical fiber is qualified for thermal shrinkage. Otherwise, reheat or adjust the heat parameters.

7. Gently take out the optical fiber and place it in a cooling tray for cooling. It is forbidden to pull the optical fiber hard before cooling, which is easy to break the fusion point.
