Why can't the OTDR test, how to test?

For our communication, OTDR is the equipment that we usually have to get in touch with, so analyzing OTDR and detecting faults is a skill we need to learn

1. The optical port is not plugged in properly.

Our OTDR optical ports all have a small gap, and the things on our pigtails or jumpers are exactly together, so the connection of the jumper pigtails here is very important.

2. It breaks or loses a lot in a short distance.

Our OTDR all have a blind zone, event blind zone, which is the first testable shortest distance. If there is a large loss or break point within this shortest distance, there is no way to test it.

3. Test with light

For our ordinary OTDR, we do not support the light test, so if the light test is done, the OTDR may be broken directly.

4. The internal components of the laser are broken

This is a hardware problem. We can't solve it completely. Basically, we return to the factory.

5. The test is inaccurate and the error is too large.

Except for some very cheap OTDRs, the test error will be relatively large, but the total loss and total distance of the general OTDR test line are similar, so what might cause this situation?

The optical port is not connected well, the middle is buckled

The light port is blocked by foreign matter, causing the light to be incomplete

The laser is damaged and the machine is unclear
