Cleaning of fusion splicer's microscopes (objective lenses)

October 23 , 2020

The fusion splicer uses the image processing system to observe the optical fiber. If the microscopic lens becomes dirty, it will affect the normal optical fiber observation, resulting in poor welding effect. Therefore, the lenses of the two microscopes should be cleaned regularly to keep the microlenses clean and tidy.
The specific process is as follows:
(1) turn off the power supply of the fusion splicer and open the windproof cover.
(2) gently wipe the lens of the microscope with a fine cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
(3) then wipe off the alcohol with a clean dry cotton swab and observe the microscope lens to make sure it is clean and free of stolen goods.
(4) turn on the power supply and observe whether there is dust on the image. If there is still dust, you need to clean the microscope again.
Note: do not touch the electrode when cleaning, do not touch the lens with hard objects.
